Potch Update

Hey everyone!

We've been having a great time here in Potch! What a fun little town! We've been quite busy; taking people for flips, going to all the cool places that the PUKers know of, visiting potch's new "mooi river mall", ten pin bowling, frisbee games next to the river and more. We're also enjoying the superb show that the aerobatics guys are putting on for everyone in town quite a lot. They're really very good.

I have to admit thought that it was slightly disconcerting when we first saw people doing loops and things in what appeared to be the circuit, but after we found out about the "box" that they're flying it made a little more sense.

The airfield here is very busy, and vibrant. We've seen the awesome guys building their award wining locally-designed gliders' very efficient and professional production lines. There is an amazingly beautiful Bell 407 standing here owned by a local chicken magnate (is there such a thing?), and everyone is really helpful.

The fantastic guys at the Police Air Wing has kindly allowed us to let RVH sleep in their hangar next to the BO105 and AS350s. Tomorrow morning when we come back we might find lots of tiny little half-breed Robbie/Squirrel choppers flying around inside :) Thanks Andre and Jaco!!

We're looking at leaving Potch on Thursday morning, so tomorrow (Wednesday) we're going to finalise our planning for the next half of the trip.

We want to follow the Orange River via Prieska (an overnight stop) and Upington to Alexander Bay, and then South. If everything works out well we might even make it in time for the fly-in at Saldanha (FASD)! Should be fun!

Anyways, We'll keep you guys posted.

When we get back home and have a decent internet connection again Marike will put up some of the amazing pictures she's managed to collect during the trip. I've seen some and I can assure you that they are really worth way more than their kilobytes in bandwidth :)
